Yesterday, Atlanta-based EDM duo Pyramid Scheme teamed up with local vocalist MK Ultra and released their newest progressive house collaboration called “Ghost”. Though, to be completely honest, I previously was completely unaware of Pyramid Scheme before hearing their single on SoundCloud yesterday, I’ve throughly scrutinized and enjoyed all of their work last night. MK Ultra’s vocals in “Ghost” add a perfect touch of emotion and sentimentality, while Pyramid Scheme’s indie progressive melody immediately hooks your ear. “Ghost” is being offered for free, so be sure to download it below.
2014 has been a breakout year for the LA-based EDM producer, NGHTMRE, with 2015 is looking to be even more successful. The 24 year old producer, after being asked by The Griswolds to remix their song “Live This Nightmare”, has remixed it into a 140 bpm future bass/melodic masterpiece. NGHTMRE has displayed his prowess in navigating a huge catalogue of sounds including remixing Elliphant, Skrillex, Porter Robinson and more. Enjoy his latest remix, and get ready for a huge 2015 from NGHTMRE.
New York based electropop producers Lucian and Mickey Valen are back on SoundCloud with a new collaboration. The pair re-vamped “Pistols At Dawn”, a song by the 24 year old Swedish artist Seinabo Sey, from a deep, soulful tune into an extremely catchy electro funk/bass remix (though the remix still manages to capture some of Sey’s soulfulness). The duo’s remix has a nice build, and the sample usage of Sey’s vocals is a 10/10. Be sure to follow Lucian and Mickey Valen by clicking on their names above, and definitely listen to their remix below. However, if you’d rather check out Seinabo Sey’s original “Pistols At Dawn”, click here!
Now, I know I haven’t historically been the biggest fan of trap. However, my taste is starting to change- I have, like so many others in the EDM community, begun to feel sick and tired of the usual, generic “progressive house drop”. Following the community’s trend towards new genres such as deep house/tropical house (and a generally more “relaxed” style of EDM), I’ve also looked for new genres to explore. Today I’m bringing you Unlike Pluto’s remix of Diplo’s highly popular “Revolution”. Unlike Pluto, whose real name is Armond Arabshahi, is a 23 year old songwriter/producer currently living in LA. Though I’ve only just been exposed to his work after a friend showed me this remix, I’m hooked. Unlike Pluto’s remix has already garnered an astounding 1.2 million plays on SoundCloud, but if you haven’t heard it yet, be sure to listen below and follow Unlike Pluto on SoundCloud.
Love it or hate it, but ever since the release of their mainstream hit #SELFIE, The Chainsmokers have enjoyed national recognition. However the American duo, comprised of friends Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, is not defined by their one original mainstream success. In the EDM community, the duo is not known for their original songs (like #SELFIE and Kayne). Rather, they are highly regarded for their remixes of songs like “Julian” and “Holding On to Heaven”.
Today, The Chainsmokers released their newest remix of A-Trak’s “Push”. “Push”, which was released on FIFA 15’s soundtrack, was named one of the top 5 EDM soundtracks on FIFA 15. Enjoy:
