Not many producers have millions of SoundCloud plays to their name. Even less have achieved this degree of success within a few short years, without the assistance of a record label or press agency.
Enter Carlos Serrano: a 24-year-old, Mexican-American producer from San Diego with over 10 million collective plays on his SoundCloud page alone. Serrano specializes in creating mashups between two songs, combining the likes of The xx and Kanye West with Flume and The Glitch Mob. Though he is renowned for his mashups, most notably ‘Touch The Sky’ (mixing Kanye West and The xx), ‘Coming To Die’ (mixing Kanye West and Lana Del Rey), ’99 Days’ (mixing Jay-Z vs. The Glitch Mob), the young prodigy has also released spectacular remixes to Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk In Love’ and Capital Cities’ ‘Safe and Sound’. Not surprisingly, Serrano has been featured on Rolling Stone as well as MTV.
I’ve spent the past few hours combing through all of Carlos Serrano’s works, and have compiled a 11-track playlist of his best productions. Enjoy – and be sure to check him out on SoundCloud, Facebook, and Twitter.
